Perking Up

I've been in a funk for the past couple of weeks. A lot of stress was heaped on me all at once when my supervisor at work hurt her back, I got snagged in the inevitable web of approvals for my back end redesign, and the lab director threw the bulk of a big project at me when I already had my arms full. When I come home, I'm too tired and grumpy to produce anything or read any of what I've written previously in a favorable light. I just zone out to historical dramas, thinking of all the things I can't do in print media that filmmakers can pull off easily with music and pretty faces.

But this morning, I had a few minutes before catching the bus, so I decided to depress myself by looking at sales numbers for September.

Amazon: 0. No surprises there.

B&N: 5. Well...okay. Not bad. But nothing to get excited about.

Kobo: 11. WTF? Who are these saps buying my stories? Don't they know they're terrible?

So then I looked at reviews, just to kill my glimmer of a good mood. There was a new one on Amazon for Bubbles Pop:

Although this novel is obviously a better fit for teenage readers, I absolutely loved it! I really enjoyed reading from each sister's point of view and liked the character development. I was thoroughly entertained and didn't want to stop reading. Definitely looking forward to more from this author!

Alright, alright. I'll get back to work already. Sheesh. People these days don't even have the courtesy to let a girl give up.
